Cavitation Check

Compare available and required NPSH, find the maximum allowed suction height and warn on cavitation.

Input Parameters

Pressure head on liquid surface (abs.)

Open tank ≈ atmospheric ≈10 m H₂O; pressurized tank = P/(ρg).

Vapor pressure head of fluid (abs.)

Vapor pressure ÷ (ρ·9.81). Find from the Fluid Properties page.

Suction line friction & local loss

Required NPSH (NPSHR)

Actual suction lift (above pump centerline)

Positive when the liquid surface is below the pump centerline.

Recommended NPSH margin factor

Engineering estimate. Verify with the pump manufacturer and local standards.
