NavStudio Benchmark Alignment

Quantified comparison of the engine's resistance and powering-chain output against NavStudio-type reference values for published benchmark hulls.

1 · Basis & assumptions

The published full-scale resistance coefficient Ct already carries full-scale correlation & service margin. Stripping it (M) gives the clean-hull reference the engine computes against; the interaction model and margins are then used to extend clean EHP up to installed MCR.

%

Published Ct typically includes a design service margin of ~15%. M both strips Ct to a clean-hull reference and is re-added to size installed MCR, keeping both sides on the same basis.

2 · Benchmark cases

Reference hulls from Tokyo 2015 CFD Workshop (KCS, JBC) and SIMMAN 2008 (KVLCC2). Engine results are clean-hull (bare); references are derived from the published full-scale Ct, stripped of margin M.

4 · Power chain — selected case

The engine's full power chain (EHP → DHP → SHP → MCR) vs a NavStudio-equivalent reference derived from the reference Ct using the same interaction model and margins. Since both sides share the same transfer, the MCR deviation equals the EHP deviation, which equals the bare-resistance deviation.

6 · Your own NavStudio run

Enter the ship dimensions and the values NavStudio returns for that ship; the engine recomputes resistance and MCR on the same case so you can quantify the deviation directly.
