Segmented Cone Elbow
Gored / lobster-back elbow — one cone cut into N gores that fan to a bend.
Principle & formula
The elbow is a single right-circular cone of half-angle α = 90° − θ/2. Each of the N gores develops as a frustum sub-sector (radial-line method). Bend radius R = (D/2)·tan(θ/2).
Advanced — material & allowance
Diameters are outside; development uses the neutral axis (Ø − t). Allowance adds a margin around the blank.
