3D Geomechanical Modeling, Explicit FDM

Build 3D models, assign Mohr-Coulomb materials, apply gravity and loads, and solve with an explicit finite-difference engine - all in your web browser.

Core Capabilities

🧊3D Hexahedral Mesh

Structured brick grids with slope, tunnel, foundation and embankment generators.

constant-strain tetrahedra (mixed)

⚙️Explicit FDM Solver

Dynamic relaxation with local damping - the algorithm family of explicit FDM codes for quasi-static geomechanics.

Web Worker · non-blocking

🪨Mohr-Coulomb & Elastic

Shear and tension failure, non-associated flow, tension cut-off.

Return mapping

🛡️Factor of Safety (SRM)

Strength Reduction Method computes the slope safety factor automatically.

Equivalent to "solve fos"

🎨Contours, Slices & Deformation

Contour plots, slice planes, deformation scaling, stress vectors, legend.

Three.js WebGL

📈History Plots

Track convergence ratio and displacement versus solve step.

Live feedback

Workflow

1
Build the model

Choose a geometry and set the mesh density.

2
Assign materials & BCs

Elastic and strength parameters per group, fixes and surface loads.

3
Solve

Run the explicit solver until convergence, or compute the FOS.

4
Analyze results

Inspect contours, slices, deformation and history plots.

About the Solver

The core engine is written in plain JavaScript and runs in a Web Worker, so the interface stays responsive during long solves.
