EngTool — F&G Safety Studio
Fire & Gas (F&G) safety screening, fully offline, in your browser.
EngTool F&G Safety Studio is a free, open, static web application for Fire & Gas (F&G) safety screening analysis. It runs entirely in the browser — no installation, no server, no internet required after first load — and gives engineers a fast, interactive workbench that combines Detect3D-style detector coverage mapping with in:Flux-style consequence screening (dispersion, fire, explosion, toxic, ventilation) plus a QRA risk layer. It is a screening-level tool for early layout and design checks, not a substitute for validated CFD or full QRA.
What it does
- Detector coverage mapping2D grid ray casting with obstructions; reports coverage % and blind spots (red/green grid).
- Detector typesPoint (IR/catalytic), flame (view-cone), open-path beam, toxic and acoustic detectors — all weather-weighted.
- Optimizer & standardsGreedy placement toward a target coverage; BP / Shell / ISA presets with Grade A/B/C pass/fail.
- Gas dispersionGaussian plume (A–F stability) with heavy-gas, neutral and buoyant regimes and wind-rose weighting.
- Toxic dispersion & probitPlume → ppm → dose → probit fatality for H2S, Cl2, NH3, CO, SO2; 1% lethality contours.
- Fire radiationJet fire (Hawthorne/Brzustowski) and pool fire (Heskestad) screening with point-source radiation and t2 growth.
- Explosion (VCE)TNT equivalent, TNO multi-energy, Baker–Strehlow–Tang and dust phase with cloud-size linkage.
- VentilationSteady & transient well-mixed box model; ACH, time-to-alarm and UFL inerting check.
- QRA risk matrix & exceedanceLeak frequency × wind rose → exceedance (events/yr); ALARP FN bands, societal FN & individual-risk contours.
- 3D viewerZero-dependency canvas projection with orbit/zoom; upgrades to Three.js (WebGL) when online.
- 3D volumetric coverageVoxel-grid isovolume coverage with height-aware line-of-sight occlusion; volume coverage %.
- Import & exportDXF, CSV, STEP and background PNG import; PDF, Excel, DXF, CSV and HTML report export.
- Integrated reportAll modules combined; detectors grouped by type with methodology and standards traceability.
How it compares to Detect3D and in:Flux
Detect3D answers 'can detectors see the fire / gas cloud?' (coverage mapping). EngTool reproduces the 2D coverage mapping, POD/POC, optimizer, Grade A/B/C and detector ranking.
in:Flux answers 'where do wind/leak carry the gas cloud, heat and fire?' (CFD consequence). EngTool delivers the same screening-level consequences with analytical models (Gaussian dispersion, point-source radiation, TNT/TNO/BST) in milliseconds, offline and 12 languages — and adds a QRA risk layer.
Both are 3D-native; EngTool is 2D analytical with a zero-dependency 3D viewer and volumetric coverage. For detailed 3D design and CFD, use professional tools; EngTool is the fast front-end screening layer.
